Scriptural Study of the word HEAL--Part One

I cannot believe it is already the middle of January 2018.  I had all good intentions of writing at least one post a week this year and already I have missed the mark; however, I will not allow that to discourage me.

Yesterday morning, as I diligently walked my 30 minutes on the treadmill, I silently asked God to give me a word I could do a Biblical word study on.  This is not something I am in the habit of doing. I think I was hoping for words like conquer, overcome, or strength instead the word 'heal' came to mind.

As I pondered the word heal for a few moments, the only way I could define 'heal' in my mind was as in a healing for a sickness, spiritual or emotional healing.  Pretty common way to understand heal for most of us, right?

Strong's online concordance is my go to when I am searching the Scriptures for particular words or phrases and this morning I searched heal. To my delight there are 39 Scriptures listed for heal, 13 for healing and 77 for healed. Looks like we have our work cut out for us.

Paul writes in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."(KJV)

Thus begins my study.  Each week I will study Scripture verses which either use the word heal or its derivative. I will be praying and seeking the Holy Spirit for wisdom and understanding, and hopefully I can share what I learn here on this page in a way you too can gleam understanding and wisdom.

Be advised I have never done this before so I am asking for each one who reads this to extend me grace as I muddle my way through.  I will look into setting up a group FB page in order to open up some discussion as we can all learn from each other.

The first Scripture recorded in my Strong's search for the word 'heal' or a derivative is in Genesis 20:17.  I will do some study and begin my first post next Friday.

Lastly, I covet your prayers as the Holy Spirit teaches me.  I ask for an open heart to hear the voice of my Father, wisdom to understand His Word, and understanding to use His Word in my day-to-day walk with Him.
May God bless the reading and study of His Word.

Always loving our Lord,
Lori Robbins
